ATP Tennis Podcast: Special Interview With Mansour Bahrami

This week on the ATP Tennis Podcast…

BAHRAMI ON GETTING INTO TENNIS FOR THE FIRST TIME – “Between the age of five to 13 I played with a dustpan, a piece of wood and no one told me you have to stop this nonsense and play serious tennis and for me it was just a game with my friends who were in the same situation as I was. We’d make a court, a net by ourselves and then make the lines and just have fun and go and play.”

BAHRAMI ON ENTERTAINING FANS AROUND THE WORLD – “I remember once I played Michael Stich in Germany and at once he stopped the match and said to the people ‘Who is German here, is it me or is it him?’ and I played Davis Cup against Heinz Günthardt in Geneva and every point I was winning they were standing like this and every time he was winning the point, people were booing him. I didn’t start anything, this was the way I always played. People come to see me and they say ‘Mansour, I want to thank you because my son didn’t like tennis, I brought him to see you and he loves tennis now’.”

BAHRAMI ON NOVAK DJOKOVIC –Novak Djokovic came to me in the locker room in Roland Garros when I was talking to Boris Becker and he came to me and said that he looks at my videos and he loves watching that and he said that he tries to pick up some of my tricks and hoped I didn’t mind. I said that, ‘If you want to try my shots, then it’s an honour for me’.”
