What to Know
After two games on the road, the #2 Auburn Tigers are heading back home. Auburn and the Georgia Bulldogs will face off in an SEC battle at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Auburn Arena. The teams split their matchups last year, with the Tigers winning the first 95-77 on the road and UGA taking the second 91-86.
Auburn netted an 80-71 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday. Among those leading the charge for Auburn was forward Walker Kessler, who posted a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds in addition to seven blocks. Kessler hadn’t helped his team much against the Alabama Crimson Tide last week, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Kessler’s points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, UGA came up short against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, falling 73-66. Guard Aaron Cook had a pretty forgettable game, fouling out and turning the ball over four times en route to a 10-point finish.
The Tigers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 21.5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a six-game streak of ATS wins.
Auburn’s win brought them up to 16-1 while the Bulldogs’ defeat pulled them down to 5-12. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Auburn have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 38.40%, which places them 15th in college basketball. On the other end of the spectrum, UGA has allowed their opponents to shoot 46.20% from the floor on average, which is the 17th highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. So the cards are definitely stacked against UGA.
