The Blackhawks announced Thursday that forward Taylor Hall needs surgery on his injured right knee, and the procedure will sideline him for the rest of the season. The injury appeared to occur during a game earlier this month, although Hall tried to play through it for two games.
Hall was the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NHL draft by the Oilers, but has bounced around the league in his 14-year career, playing for the Devils, Sabres, Coyotes and Bruins as well. This is his first season with Chicago. He has scored over 20 goals seven times in his career, and his best season came with the Devils in 2017-18, when he scored a career-high 39 goals and 93 points on his way to winning the Hart Trophy as the league MVP.
After playing with the Bruins last year, Hall was traded to Chicago in the offseason as Boston wanted to clear cap space. The 32-year-old is signed through next season with a $6 million cap hit each year.
In 10 games this season, Hall totaled two goals and two assists for the 5–12–0 Blackhawks.
