Brighton offer fans a chance to ‘attend’ home matches as cardboard cutouts

ESPN FC presents the Battle of the Leagues, a FIFA 20 tournament to determine the best league in the world.
James Olley explains why we might see more swap deals than normal and why clubs need to be careful with them.
Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United and Man City vs. Arsenal will be the first games back as Prem returns.

Brighton are offering fans the chance to have cardboard cutouts of themselves in the stadium when the Premier League resumes.

Games in the league will be closed to spectators for the remainder of the season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Five of Brighton’s nine remaining games are at home. The first is on June 20 against Arsenal.

Fans need to send in a photo wearing a Brighton jersey and pay £20 ($25).

The club said on their website: “We are asking fans to don their blue and white matchday attire and send in their picture to be part of the remaining five matches of the season to be played at the Amex.

“The cutout fans will be positioned in the upper tier of the East Stand, providing the team with some visual support for these important games and supporters are encouraged to wear colours to create a stand full of blue and white.

“Other areas of the stadium will feature other club and partner branding as part of a Premier League initiative.”

Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach also used cardboard cutouts of their fans.
