The Broncos are releasing pass rusher Randy Gregory, who played in just 10 games over the span of less than two years with Denver, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Gregory signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Broncos last offseason.
During free agency ahead of the 2022 NFL season, Gregory had originally signed a five-year deal with the Cowboys, but he spurned Dallas at the last second. At the time, Gregory wasn’t happy with the language in Dallas’ contract offer, leading him to sign with Denver instead.
To begin his career, Gregory had 16.5 sacks in 50 games with the Cowboys, but in the last two years, the pass rusher missed multiple games, playing in just six throughout the 2022 season. While with Denver, Gregory battled injuries, and totaled just 21 tackles with three sacks over the span of his brief tenure with the Broncos.
According to Schefter, Denver is making this move largely to focus on younger players, but the team owes Gregory $14 million guaranteed for the rest of the season regardless. However, Gregory is not guaranteed any money beyond this season.
