A social media influencer is suing Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, saying he invited her to his home, then broke her leg when he charged her during a football drill, according to a lawsuit obtained by the Sun Sentinel.
Sophie Hall, a model with over 2 million followers on Instagram, filed the lawsuit in Broward County court last Friday. In the filing, she says Hill charged into her to retaliate for an earlier instance when she managed to push him backward during a drill. Hall also says she was not provided proper medical care after breaking her leg.
“Unfortunately, after getting ‘humiliated’ in front of friends and family when he was knocked backwards during a friendly football lesson by his friend Sophie Hall, Tyreek became enraged, and forcefully and purposefully shoved Ms. Hall, severely fracturing her leg,” Hall’s attorneys wrote in the complaint.
In May 2023, Hall bought a ticket for her 10-year-old son to attend Hill’s football camp at Boca Raton High School. The next day, Hill sent her a direct message via Instagram, per the complaint. In his message, Hill, who is married, told her “in a flirtatious and playful manner” that she is not in fact 6’1” as listed in her Instagram bio, and she responded “Lol yes I am.”
“We lit then Ima see you towering over everyone I guess,” Hill replied, adding that he was known “to be a good stepdad.” He proceeded to ask her to arrive a day early for the camp and to stay at his Southwest Ranches home after the camp was over.
Hall arrived at Hill’s home on June 28. That afternoon, she stood to the side and watched as he practiced with his trainer on the field in his backyard, per the complaint.
Then, in front of his mother, sister, friend and trainer among others, Hill invited Hall to participate in a drill in which she would perform as the offensive lineman and Hill would be a pass rusher—despite Hall having no knowledge of football. Hall proceeded to push Hill backward on the very first play, leading to laughter from observers.
Hill, who stands at 5’10” and weighs 191 pounds, became “angry” and “embarrassed,” per Hall’s attorney in the complaint. On the fourth play, he charged into Hall “violently and with great force,” and fracturing her leg.
Hall was in “excruciating pain,” so Hill told her to rest and gave her a bed to lay down in and ice for her leg. She stayed there for a few days until he arranged for her to travel back home. She ordered a brace so she could walk around, but never received medical attention. When she returned home in early July, she saw an orthopedist, who diagnosed her with a right leg fracture.
She’s suing Hill for battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence. Hall is seeking between $50,000 and $75,000 for punitive damages. This is the latest in a long history of trouble for Hill off the field.
Most recently, on June 18, 2023, a fishing charter company employee at a marina said Hill slapped him then offered him $200 to apologize, according to a Miami-Dade Police report. A video later surfaced showing Hill slapping the man, but he refused to press charges.
In 2019, Hill was suspended from the Kansas City Chiefs amid allegations that he had physically abused his son. In 2014, he was arrested on domestic violence charges while playing at Oklahoma State and pleaded guilty to abusing and choking former fiancée Crystal Espinal, who was pregnant at the time.
