Devin Haney will have his trainer in his corner after all.

The 23-year-old was prepared to fight George Kambosos for the undisputed lightweight championship without the guidance of his father, Bill Haney — now, he won’t have to.

The elder Haney received the green light on Thursday to board a flight from Las Vegas to Melbourne, Australia, and will arrive Saturday at 9 p.m. local time, Top Rank spokesman Evan Korn told ESPN, just in time for the early Sunday afternoon fight at Marvel Stadium (9 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPN/ESPN+).

Bill Haney initially wasn’t approved for a travel visa to Australia because of a 1992 drug conviction that he served time in prison for.

“I’m optimistic about maybe even me eventually going out there,” Bill Haney told ESPN’s Mark Kriegel last month. “It’s still up in the air. I haven’t been totally denied.”

Haney, who fights out of Las Vegas, has been in Melbourne for weeks while he trains and adjusts to the time difference (17 hours ahead). He has been there without not only his father, but also trainer Ben Davison, who was denied a travel visa as well.

Yoel Judah, the father and trainer of former undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah (Devin’s godfather), was set to lead Haney’s corner in Bill’s place.
