How to watch Mavericks vs. Pistons: TV channel, NBA live stream info, start time

Through 3 Quarters

The Dallas Mavericks were the heavy favorites here for a reason. After three quarters it’s looking more and more like their high-powered offense is just too much for the Detroit Pistons as Dallas lead 100-73.

Point guard Luka Doncic has led the way so far for the Mavericks, as he has shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and has posted a double-double on 33 points and 11 dimes along with seven rebounds. A double-double would be Doncic’s seventh in a row.

Detroit has been relying on the performance of center Isaiah Stewart, who has posted a double-double on 13 boards and ten points. This makes it six consecutive games in which Stewart has had at least 11 rebounds.

Dallas’ lead is tied with the biggest they have had this year going into the fourth quarter.

What to Know

The Detroit Pistons haven’t won a game against the Dallas Mavericks since Jan. 31 of 2019, but they’ll be looking to end the drought on Tuesday. Detroit is on the road again on Tuesday and plays against Dallas at 8:30 p.m. ET Feb. 8 at American Airlines Center. The Mavericks will be strutting in after a victory while Detroit will be stumbling in from a loss.

On Sunday, Detroit lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road by a decisive 118-105 margin. Detroit’s defeat came about despite a quality game from small forward Saddiq Bey, who shot 6-for-11 from beyond the arc and finished with 24 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Dallas beat the Atlanta Hawks 103-94 on Sunday. Dallas relied on the efforts of shooting guard Reggie Bullock, who shot 6-for-10 from downtown and finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, and point guard Luka Doncic, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 11 assists, and ten rebounds. That’s the sixth consecutive matchup in which Doncic has had at least ten assists.

The Pistons are the clear underdogs, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with Detroit, who are 26-27 against the spread.

Detroit is now 12-41 while Dallas sits at 31-23. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Detroit is stumbling into the contest with the second fewest points per game in the league, having accrued only 102.5 on average. The Mavericks’ defense has more to brag about, as they they enter the game with only 103.5 points allowed per game on average, good for third best in the league. The Pistons might struggle to break 100.
