Who’s Playing

Boston @ Indiana

Current Records: Boston 36-26; Indiana 20-41

What to Know

The Indiana Pacers haven’t won a game against the Boston Celtics since Dec. 27 of 2020, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Sunday. The Pacers have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Boston at 5 p.m. ET Feb. 27 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Boston should still be riding high after a win, while Indiana will be looking to right the ship.

Indiana fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder this past Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 129-125. Indiana didn’t live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the 8-point advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game. Shooting guard Buddy Hield put forth a good effort for the losing side as he shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 29 points, five assists and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Celtics bagged a 113-104 victory over the Detroit Pistons this past Saturday. It was another big night for Boston’s small forward Jayson Tatum, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards in addition to six dimes.

The Pacers are now 20-41 while Boston sits at 36-26. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Indiana has allowed their opponents to shoot 47.30% from the floor on average, which is the fifth highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. The Celtics’ defense has more to brag about, as they they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 42.90%, which places them first in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
