Kobe Bryant tribute in Europe serves as largest mural on the continent

Kobe Bryant was a global icon who meant a lot to more than just Lakers fans. Before spending his entire NBA career in Los Angeles, Bryant spent years as a child in Europe. Now, fans in Europe have decided to pay tribute to Kobe.

Artist Deni Božić and a group of locals painted a 39-foot high mural of Bryant at an elementary school in Gradiška, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After spending two weeks working on it, the murla is now complete. At 39 feet tall by 19 feet wide, it is reportedly the largest mural in Europe.

“We made our first basketball steps thanks to Kobe Bryant, so we decided to pay our respects to him in this way and emphasize the impact he left on the sport,” the artists told the Srpska Times.

The mural showcases an image of Bryant at the free-throw line in his famous yellow Lakers jersey. In addition, Bryant’s “Black Mamba” logo is clearly visible in the top right corner of the artwork.

Božić worked on the mural nonstop and admitted that it was a difficult process, but said the finished product was definitely worth it.

“I am glad that in addition to the mural of Kobe Bryant, Gradiška has recently received several more murals. I hope that this will become a trend in other cities of our country as well,” Božić added.

Many murals of Bryant sprung up around Los Angeles after his death earlier in 2020, but now, officially, none are bigger than this one in Europe.
