Through 3 Quarters

Down eight at the end of last quarter, the Golden State Warriors have now snagged the lead. They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the Orlando Magic 74-65.

The Warriors have been relying on small forward Otto Porter Jr., who has 12 points in addition to nine boards, and shooting guard Jordan Poole, who has 17 points and six assists. One thing to keep an eye out for is Jonathan Kuminga’s foul situation as he currently sits at four.

The top scorer for Orlando has been power forward Wendell Carter Jr. (17 points). Wendell Carter Jr. has also picked up four fouls, though.

the Magic have lost 86% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this season, so this one seems just about wrapped up

What to Know

The Orlando Magic are 3-10 against the Golden State Warriors since February of 2016, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Tuesday. Orlando has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Golden State at 7 p.m. ET March 22 at Amway Center. The Magic are out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.

Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Orlando beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 90-85 on Sunday. Power forward Wendell Carter Jr. was the offensive standout of the game for Orlando, posting a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Dubs were close but no cigar on Sunday as they fell 110-108 to the San Antonio Spurs. Golden State’s loss shouldn’t obscure the performances of shooting guard Jordan Poole, who had 28 points along with five boards, and small forward Otto Porter Jr., who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Porter Jr. hadn’t helped his team much against the Boston Celtics last Wednesday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

The Magic are expected to lose this next one by 7.5. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past three games, so buyers beware.

Orlando’s win brought them up to 19-53 while the Warriors’ defeat pulled them down to 47-24. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Orlando has only been able to knock down 43.40% percent of their shots, which is the third lowest field goal percentage in the league. Golden State’s defense has more to brag about, as they they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.80%, which places them second in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
