Man City players ‘enjoy’ pressure of run-in – Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said his players relish the pressure of a title race after they comfortably beat Fulham on Saturday to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League.

City are aiming to win the league for a fourth time in a row and are showing no signs of nerves as they scored four goals without reply at Craven Cottage.

That result means they could win the title at Tottenham on Tuesday if Arsenal fail to get a positive result at Manchester United on Sunday.

“We arrive with a lot of pressure, but in the last few years this group of players enjoy playing with pressure,” Guardiola told TNT Sports.

“We know we have to win if we are to achieve something that no-one has done before. What we want is to arrive in the last game at home with the destiny in our hands. For that we need to win against Spurs.”

According to Optaexternal-link, City’s chances of winning the Premier League now stand at 76.3%, with Arsenal’s at 23.6% before their game against United.

Three draws in a row in April 2023 cost Arsenal momentum as Manchester City won last season’s title, with the Gunners’ probability of being champions nosediving

What if the teams finish level on points?

Should there be a tie, the league is decided on goal difference, then goals scored, then most points in the head-to-head matches, then most away goals in the head-to-head record.

Whatever happens, don’t be too surprised if there are more twists and turns between now and the final day of the season on 19 May.
