Manchester United’s Tahith Chong completes loan to Werder Bremen

Manchester United’s Tahith Chong has joinedWerder Bremen on a season-long loan and the Bundesliga’s pre-season training camp in Austria.

The Netherlands Under-21 forward only signed a new contract at Old Trafford in March, which keeps him at the club until June 2022, with the option to extend the deal by a further year.

Chong first moved to England four years ago from Feyenoord and has progressed to the fringe of the first team, but will spend the upcoming campaign in Germany.

Chong had already been included in Werder’s pre-season training camp party before the deal was confirmed on Sunday afternoon.

“We’re delighted that Tahith has decided to join us,” said Frank Baumann, the club’s sporting director. “He’s a talented youngster with real potential, who has already gained some experience at the highest level with Manchester United. Now he will have to get used to the Bundesliga and take the next step in his development with us.”.

Bremen are in Zillerdeich before the new Bundesliga campaign,due to begin on September 18. Florian Kohfeldt’s side finished 16th last season and stayed up after a relegation play-off with Heidenheim, surviving only thanks to the away goal rule.
