Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama is officially the second tallest active NBA player standing at 7’ 4”, causing a unique challenge for the rest of the league while facing him on both ends of the court.
The Mavericks face the Spurs for their home opener on Wednesday, Oct. 25, meaning Dallas needs to prepare to face the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft.
One of Dallas’s assistants, player development coach God Shammgod, did his best to turn into Wembanyama during Saturday’s Mavericks practice. And, no, he isn’t 7’ 4” like the Frenchman.
Instead, Shammgod attached long pads onto his arms to mimic Wembanyama’s wingspan. As he defended Mavericks players, Shammgod shouted “Wemby! Wemby!” to remind the players who they will be facing in a few days.
In a video posted by Dallas Morning News’s Brad Townsend, Shammgod seemed to successfully guard the players with his extended arm length.

Even though the image of Shammgod with pad arms looks very funny, fans will get to see whether the technique was successful in a few days.
