Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle has spent six years on college football sidelines, dating back to a redshirt year in 2018 with Utah.
Now, the veteran signal-caller is trying for a seventh season, Andrew Kahn of MLive wrote Thursday morning.
“It depends,” Tuttle said during media availability surrounding the Wolverines’ 34–13 national championship victory over Washington. “We’ll see what happens. I think I’ll have the opportunity to. It’s still in process. I’m enjoying this moment right now.”
Clayton Sayfie of On3 reported Tuesday that Tuttle intended to join Michigan’s staff if his waiver is not granted.
Over the course of his lengthy college career, Tuttle has met the four-game threshold just three times—with Indiana in 2019 and ’21, and then with the Wolverines in ’23 as star J.J. McCarthy’s backup.
Tuttle’s 2022 ended after just one game due to injury, and he played just three games for the Hoosiers in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
Michigan—which is still awaiting the fate of NFL-curious head coach Jim Harbaugh—opens its 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Fresno State.
