MOSCOW, Russia – Seoul champion Karolina Muchova stormed into the VTB Kremlin Cup quarterfinals with a confident straight sets win over No.4 seed Donna Vekic, 6-4, 6-2.
“I wouldn’t call it a fantastic match, it was a little bit of a weird match from both of our sides,” Muchova admitted in a post-match interview.
“There was many winners, many mistakes. I’m happy I put the important points in, that was the key today.”

Ranked at a career-high World No.35, Muchova proved why she has been a rising force in 2019 when she took down two-time Moscow winner Svetlana Kuznetsova in her opening match, firing 27 winners past the home favorite.
She continued her run against No.4 seed Donna Vekic, who reached the final in Nottingham earlier this year and posted her best Grand Slam finish at the US Open after reaching the quarterfinals.
