What to Know

The Brooklyn Nets are 3-10 against the Portland Trail Blazers since January of 2016, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Friday. Brooklyn’s homestand continues as they prepare to take on Portland at 7:30 p.m. ET March 18 at Barclays Center. The Nets are out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.

It was close but no cigar for Brooklyn as they fell 113-111 to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. Despite the defeat, Brooklyn had strong showings from center Andre Drummond, who dropped a double-double on 17 boards and 14 points, and power forward Kevin Durant, who posted a double-double on 23 points and ten assists in addition to six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Rip City was expected to have a tough go of it on Wednesday, and that’s exactly how things played out. Things couldn’t have gone much worse for them as they lost 128-98 to the New York Knicks. Portland was down 94-74 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Shooting guard Josh Hart (17 points) was the top scorer for Rip City.

The Nets are the favorite in this one, with an expected 14.5-point margin of victory. At 8-25 against the spread at home, they are no cash cow. That said, Rip City isn’t so hot on the road, where they are 11-22.

Both teams will surely be fighting tooth and nail to get back into the win column after losses this week. We’ll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
