The NFL fined Seahawks safety Jamal Adams $50,000 for inappropriate conduct towards a doctor on the bench of last week’s game vs. the Bengals, CBS Sports’s Jonathan Jones reports. According to the report, Adams “directed verbal remarks and made inappropriate physical contact” with an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant (UNC) who was taking wide receiver Jake Bobo to the medical tent.
The league claims that Adams interfered when the UNC was treating Bobo for a potential concussion. Bobo would go on to clear concussion protocol and reenter the game shortly after.
Jones reports that the league has video evidence of the incident, which was reviewed before making the decision.
This incident was the second time in three weeks that Adams had a confrontation with an UNC. Adams had to be held back in a game vs. the Giants on Oct. 2 after the UNC took Adams out of the game to be evaluated for a concussion. The NFL decided not to fine Adams, who was ruled out of the game with a concussion, for that incident.
Adams apologized for his “negative energy” in the first incident in the Giants, saying that the UNC “did everything right.”
“Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn’t myself in that moment,” Adams said in that apology. “You’re a real one and you serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players. Prioritizing player’s health is essential. Much respect to you!”
