Who’s Playing

Portland @ Toronto

Current Records: Portland 19-26; Toronto 22-21

What to Know

The Toronto Raptors haven’t won a game against the Portland Trail Blazers since Nov. 13 of 2019, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Sunday. Toronto will look to defend their home court against Portland at 6 p.m. ET. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

It was a close one, but this past Friday the Raptors sidestepped the Washington Wizards for a 109-105 win. Toronto relied on the efforts of point guard Fred VanVleet, who posted a double-double on 21 points and 12 dimes, and power forward Scottie Barnes, who had 27 points in addition to eight boards.

Speaking of close games: Portland came out on top in a nail-biter against the Boston Celtics this past Friday, sneaking past 109-105. Portland’s center Jusuf Nurkic looked sharp as he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds along with six assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nurkic has had at least 14 rebounds.

The Raptors are the favorite in this one, with an expected 7.5-point margin of victory. They are currently two-for-two against the spread in their most recent games, a trend bettors might want to take into account.

Toronto is now 22-21 while the Trail Blazers sit at 19-26. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Toronto has only been able to knock down 43.60% percent of their shots, which is the fifth lowest field goal percentage in the league. Portland has experienced some struggles of their own as they have allowed their opponents to shoot 47.60% from the floor on average, which is the highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
