Saints, Tyrann Mathieu Agree to Two-Year Contract, per Report

The New Orleans Saints are signing defensive back Tyrann Mathieu to a new contract that runs through the 2025 NFL season, according to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Football Network.

Mathieu had one year left on his original three-year deal with the Saints, and this deal will lower his cap hit in 2024 from $12 million to $5.5 million, according to Underhill. The new two-year deal is worth $13 million total, and it also gives the Saints more flexibility ahead of the start of free agency next week.

Mathieu has been in the league since 2013, playing for the Arizona CardinalsHouston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs before joining the Saints in ’22. The defensive back has been named first-team All-Pro three times and has appeared in at least 15 games every year since 2017.
