What to Know

The South Carolina Gamecocks haven’t won a contest against the Mississippi State Bulldogs since March 3 of 2020, but they’ll be looking to end the drought on Wednesday. USC and MSU will face off in an SEC battle at 6:30 p.m. ET at Colonial Life Arena. These two teams are tiptoeing into their game after sneaking past their previous opponents.

This past Saturday, the Gamecocks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the LSU Tigers 77-75. Guard Jermaine Couisnard took over for USC, finishing with 33 points (a whopping 43% of their total). Couisnard hadn’t helped his team much against the Ole Miss Rebels last Tuesday, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Couisnard’s points were the most he has had all year.

Speaking of close games: after constant struggles on the road, MSU has finally found some success away from home. They skirted past the Missouri Tigers 58-56. The top scorer for MSU was guard Iverson Molinar (16 points).

Their wins bumped the Gamecocks to 16-10 and the Bulldogs to 16-11. Couisnard will be someone to keep an eye on after he shot 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 33 points this past Saturday. Let’s see if he can build on that strong performance or if Mississippi State’s defense can bottle him up.
