Through 3 Quarters

The San Antonio Spurs were expected to win this one, and they are just one quarter away from fulfilling that expectation. Sitting on a score of 89-81, they have looked like the better team out there today, but there’s still one more quarter to play.

The top scorers for San Antonio have been point guard Dejounte Murray (16 points), small forward Keldon Johnson (15 points), and small forward Lonnie Walker IV (14 points). The Oklahoma City Thunder have enjoyed the tag-team combination of center Isaiah Roby and point guard Theo Maledon. The former has 17 points along with nine rebounds, while the latter has 16 points.

the Thunder have lost 87% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this season, so this one seems just about wrapped up

Who’s Playing

San Antonio @ Oklahoma City

Current Records: San Antonio 22-36; Oklahoma City 18-39

What to Know

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be returning home after a three-game road trip. They will take on the San Antonio Spurs at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Paycom Center. Oklahoma City should still be feeling good after a victory, while San Antonio will be looking to get back in the win column.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Thunder ultimately got the result they were hoping for on Monday with a 127-123 win over the New York Knicks. Point guard Tre Mann (30 points) and point guard Josh Giddey (28 points) were the top scorers for Oklahoma City. Josh Giddey now has three triple-doubles this season. Giddey’s points were the most he has had all year.

Meanwhile, San Antonio lost to the Chicago Bulls on the road by a decisive 120-109 margin. San Antonio’s defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of point guard Dejounte Murray, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists along with six rebounds, and small forward Lonnie Walker IV, who had 21 points in addition to five boards. That’s the third consecutive matchup in which Murray has had at least 11 assists.

The Thunder are expected to lose this next one by 8. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 32-16-2 against the spread when expected to lose.

Oklahoma City’s win brought them up to 18-39 while the Spurs’ loss pulled them down to 22-36. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Oklahoma City comes into the game boasting the fourth fewest fouls per game in the league at 18.1. But San Antonio is even better: they enter the contest with only 17.9 fouls per game on average, good for second best in the league. We’ll see if that edge gives San Antonio a route to victory.
