Who’s Playing

Houston @ Arizona

Regular Season Records: Houston 31-5; Arizona 33-3

What to Know

The #2 Arizona Wildcats and the #15 Houston Cougars are set to clash at 9:59 p.m. ET March 24 at AT&T Center in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The TCU Horned Frogs typically have all the answers at home, but on Sunday Arizona proved too difficult a challenge. The Wildcats managed an 85-80 win over TCU. Arizona’s center Christian Koloko did his thing and dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards along with three blocks. Koloko has also now had at least three blocks in his past three games. Koloko’s points were the most he has had all season.

Meanwhile, Houston earned some more postseason success in their matchup on Sunday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini. Guard Taze Moore was the offensive standout of the contest for Houston, picking up 21 points in addition to seven rebounds.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Wildcats are expected to win a tight contest Thursday. Now might not be the best time to take Arizona against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past two consecutive games.

A pair of stats to keep an eye on: Arizona comes into the game boasting the third highest field goal percentage in college basketball at 49.60%. But Houston have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 37.50%, which places them first in college basketball. We’ll see which of these strengths — offense or defense — will win out.
