Who’s Playing

Minnesota @ Memphis

Regular Season Records: Minnesota 1-0; Memphis 56-26

What to Know

The Minnesota Timberwolves have enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they must head out on the road. They will face off against the Memphis Grizzlies in a playoff game at FedExForum at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday. Minnesota should still be riding high after a win, while Memphis will be looking to get back in the win column.

The Timberwolves didn’t have too much breathing room in their matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 109-104 victory. Minnesota’s point guard D’Angelo Russell was one of the most active players for the team, picking up 29 points and six assists along with five boards.

Meanwhile, a victory for the Grizz just wasn’t in the stars on Sunday as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. They have to be aching after a bruising 139-110 loss to the Boston Celtics. The Grizzlies were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 72-49. Memphis’ defeat came about despite a quality game from shooting guard John Konchar, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 13 rebounds, and ten dimes. That’s Konchar’s first triple-double of the season.

Minnesota is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Washington Wizards April 5 easily too and instead slipped up with a 132-114. In other words, don’t count Memphis out just yet.
