Who’s Playing

Detroit @ Miami

Current Records: Detroit 18-50; Miami 45-24

What to Know

The Miami Heat will take on the Detroit Pistons at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday at FTX Arena after having had a few days off. The Heat are the favorites here — although they were the favorites in their last contest, too, so the odds might count for a little less.

Miami came up short against the Minnesota Timberwolves this past Saturday, falling 113-104. A silver lining for Miami was the play of point guard Tyler Herro, who shot 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 30 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, it was close but no cigar for Detroit as they fell 106-102 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Detroit was up 53-39 at the end of the half but couldn’t hold on to the lead. The losing side was boosted by shooting guard Cade Cunningham, who almost posted a triple-double on 23 points, ten dimes, and nine rebounds.

Miami is now 45-24 while the Pistons sit at 18-50. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Heat enter the game with 20.8 fouls drawn per game on average, good for second best in the league. Less enviably, Detroit is stumbling into the matchup with the most fouls per game in the league, having accrued 22 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked against Detroit.
