Through 2 Quarters

We’ve seen some fireworks two quarters in as the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz have combined for 121 points. It’s anybody’s game, but Denver is ahead 61-60.

The Nuggets have been relying on shooting guard Davon Reed, who has 11 points and three assists in addition to three rebounds, and shooting guard Bryn Forbes, who has 13 points and two assists. Those points put Forbes near his season high of 14.

Utah hasn’t had any offensive standouts so far with all players held to 11 points or fewer.

The Jazz haven’t been much of a second-half team this season, losing 70% of the time when they were down at the break.

Who’s Playing

Denver @ Utah

Current Records: Denver 28-22; Utah 30-21

What to Know

The Denver Nuggets have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Utah Jazz and are hoping to record their first win since Jan. 31 of last year. The Nuggets are on the road again on Wednesday and play against Utah at 10 p.m. ET Feb. 2 at Vivint Arena. The odds don’t look promising for Denver, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.

Denver received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 130-115 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Denver was down 100-78 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. The losing side was boosted by center Nikola Jokic, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 16 boards, and eight assists.

Meanwhile, Utah’s and Minnesota’s contest on Sunday was up for grabs at halftime, but the Jazz were thoroughly outmatched 74-58 in the second half. Utah has to be aching after a bruising 126-106 defeat to Minnesota. The top scorers for Utah were small forward Bojan Bogdanovic (23 points) and point guard Mike Conley (22 points). Bogdanovic hadn’t helped his team much against the Memphis Grizzlies last Friday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

The losses put Denver at 28-22 and Utah at 30-21. Two offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Denver enters the matchup with a 47.10% field goal percentage, good for fourth best in the league. The Jazz have displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they come into the game boasting the second most points per game in the league at 113.5.
