Through 2 Quarters

Fans are certainly getting their money’s worth as the Sacramento Kings and the Indiana Pacers have combined for 129 points two quarters in. Sacramento has emerged as the frontrunner and is ahead of Indiana 68-61.

The Kings have been riding high on the performance of power forward Chimezie Metu, who has 18 points. Indiana has enjoyed the tag-team combination of shooting guard Buddy Hield and center Goga Bitadze. The former has 12 points and four assists along with three steals, while the latter has 13 points in addition to four rebounds.

Indiana hasn’t been much of a second-half team this season, losing 88% of the time when they were down at the break.

What to Know

The Sacramento Kings have enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they must head out on the road. After a few days’ rest for both teams, they and the Indiana Pacers will meet up at 7 p.m. ET March 23 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Sacramento needs to shore up a defense that is allowing 115.86 points per contest.

The Kings fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 127-124. Despite the defeat, Sacramento had strong showings from power forward Domantas Sabonis, who posted a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds along with six assists, and point guard Davion Mitchell, who had 28 points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Indiana simply couldn’t be stopped on Sunday, as they easily beat the Portland Trail Blazers at home 129-98. With Indiana ahead 69-48 at the half, the game was all but over already. They can attribute much of their success to small forward Oshae Brissett, who had 24 points in addition to nine boards.

Indiana’s win lifted them to 25-47 while Sacramento’s loss dropped them down to 25-48. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score Wednesday.
