Through 3 Quarters

Only one more quarter stands between the San Antonio Spurs and the win they were favored to collect going into this night. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Oklahoma City Thunder 106-78.

San Antonio has been riding high on the performance of point guard Dejounte Murray, who has posted a triple-double on 23 points, 14 dimes, and ten rebounds. One thing to keep an eye out for is Devin Vassell’s foul situation as he currently sits at four.

Small forward Aaron Wiggins (17 points) and small forward Luguentz Dort (15 points) have been the top scorers for Oklahoma City. Luguentz Dort has also picked up four fouls, though.

The Thunder have lost 89% of their games in which they were down going into the fourth quarter. Barring a miraculous turnaround, this game will end the same way.

What to Know

The Oklahoma City Thunder are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the San Antonio Spurs at 8:30 p.m. ET Jan. 19 at AT&T Center. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’

It was a hard-fought contest, but Oklahoma City had to settle for a 104-102 loss against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. A silver lining for the Thunder was the play of shooting guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who had 34 points and five assists in addition to six rebounds.

Meanwhile, the game between San Antonio and the Phoenix Suns on Monday was not a total blowout, but with San Antonio falling 121-107 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. Shooting guard Devin Vassell wasn’t much of a difference maker for San Antonio; Vassell finished with ten points on 4-for-12 shooting in his 27 minutes on the court.

OKC is expected to lose this next one by 7. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 25-12-1 against the spread when expected to lose.

Oklahoma City didn’t have too much breathing room in their matchup with the Spurs in the teams’ previous meeting last November, but they still walked away with a 99-94 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for OKC since the squad won’t have home-court advantage. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
