Head coach Sarina Wiegman says it would be an “amazing moment” if Ellen White was to break England’s scoring record against Latvia on Tuesday.
The Manchester City striker needs only one goal to equal Kelly Smith’s tally of 46 for her country.
White, who marked her 100th England cap by scoring the winner against Austria on Saturday, was on the scoresheet in October’s 10-0 win against Latvia.
“It would be really nice if she scored her record goal,” Wiegman said.
“In this Latvia game we want to score a lot of goals.
“[Ellen] has showed so much consistency, the way she lives football is the only way you can do things like this.”
England, who host Latvia at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday (19:00 GMT), have won all five of their World Cup qualifying matches without conceding a goal.
Striker White has scored six of England’s 33 goals in those games.
Fellow forward Beth Mead said White has “the quality to score plenty of goals” against a team ranked 94 places below England in the world rankings.
“When that happens [White breaking the scoring record], it will be an amazing moment for her and us as a team, and we will all be right behind her celebrating that moment,” Mead said.
“I’ve looked up to Ellen for a long time before I was in the England set-up and now that I’m here playing alongside her, I’m learning from her day in and day out in training and in games.
“She is someone that I would love to replicate scoring goals like. I hope she can help me in my journey as well as I can help her in hers.”
Meanwhile, forward Nikita Parris has left the England squad the day before Tuesday’s qualifier against Latvia in order to take “a few days’ rest”.
The Football Association said she would return home after a “busy 14 months of domestic and international football”.
Parris was a second-half substitute in the Lionesses’ 1-0 victory over Austria on Saturday.
She is next scheduled to play for Arsenal in the delayed 2020-21 Women’s FA Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.
Wiegman will not call up a replacement.
Gunners boss Jonas Eidevall has previously expressed concern about the workload of players after Leah Williamson suffered a hamstring injury.
During October’s international break, Eidevall organised with the Netherlands to give striker Vivianne Miedema a similar break after she played at the Olympic Games in the summer.
In between her switch from Lyon to Arsenal, Parris also featured at the Tokyo Olympics for Team GB.
Wiegman has previously said she is “concerned about the total programme of the players”.
The Lionesses boss said “there is not a big problem” with Parris and that “she is OK” after featuring against Austria.
“Nikita has had so much load in the last two years, from Lyon to England she hardly had any rest,” Wiegman said.
“During the week we had a chat with her, also with the medical staff, and after the game we decided it is good for her to have a few days off.”
Earlier on Monday, England’s open training session at Newcastle United’s academy was cancelled because of a frozen pitch.
The FA arranged an alternative venue in Doncaster.
