What to Know

The Memphis Grizzlies will be returning home after a two-game road trip. Memphis and the New Orleans Pelicans will face off in a Southwest Division battle at 6 p.m. ET Saturday at FedExForum. The Grizz is out to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.

The matchup between the Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets on Thursday was not a total blowout, but with the Grizz falling 122-109 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. Memphis was down 105-78 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. One thing holding Memphis back was the mediocre play of small forward Dillon Brooks, who did not have his best game: he played for 26 minutes with.

Meanwhile, you’re bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that’s exactly how it played out for New Orleans on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 127-94 win over the Portland Trail Blazers at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point New Orleans had established a 101-76 advantage. Center Willy Hernangomez and shooting guard CJ McCollum were among the main playmakers for the Pelicans as the former dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards and the latter shot 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 23 points and seven dimes.

The Grizz is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Houston Rockets March 6 easily too and instead slipped up with a 123-112. In other words, don’t count New Orleans out just yet.
