The Portland Pilots and the San Diego Toreros are set to clash at 11 p.m. ET March 4 at Orleans Arena in the second round of the West Coast Conference Tourney. San Diego should still be riding high after a victory, while the Pilots will be looking to right the ship.

Portland received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 102-89 to the Santa Clara Broncos. A silver lining for Portland was the play of forward Moses Wood, who had 23 points in addition to seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, San Diego earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing on Thursday. They were able to grind out a solid win over the Pepperdine Waves, winning 74-67. Guard Joey Calcaterra and guard Marcellus Earlington were among the main playmakers for San Diego as the former had 20 points and the latter posted a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards along with five dimes. Calcaterra had some trouble finding his footing against the San Francisco Dons on Saturday, so this was a step in the right direction.

The Pilots simply couldn’t be stopped when the two teams last met earlier in the regular season, as they easily beat the Toreros at home 92-60. Will Portland repeat their success, or does San Diego have a better game plan this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.
