What to Know

The Orlando Magic have enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they must head out on the road. They will square off against the Toronto Raptors at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday at Scotiabank Arena. Orlando has some work to do to even out the 6-21 series between these two since November of 2015, but a win here would be a good start.

The Magic fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 122-114. Orlando was up 91-76 at the end of the third quarter but couldn’t hold on to the lead. Despite the loss, they had strong showings from small forward Franz Wagner, who had 28 points along with six rebounds, and center Mo Bamba, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, the point spread favored Toronto on Thursday, but luck did not. It was close but no cigar for Toronto as they fell 108-106 to the Detroit Pistons. One thing holding Toronto back was the mediocre play of shooting guard Gary Trent Jr., who did not have his best game: he finished with 14 points on 4-for-23 shooting in his 38 minutes on the court.

The losses put the Magic at 15-48 and the Raptors at 34-28. A couple offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Orlando is stumbling into the contest with the third fewest points per game in the league, having accrued only 104 on average. Toronto has experienced some struggles of their own as they have only been able to knock down 44.30% percent of their shots, which is the fifth lowest field goal percentage in the league. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
